  • Jan. 2008 – Dec. 2010: start-up of IAG Yachts shipyard  in Zhuhai (China) and its Technical & Commercial Direction (the shipyard is building now luxury yachts in FRP, 127’ and 100’ in length, RINA and MCA compliant): set-up of the company organization, selection of the team of professionals in key positions, yacht specification definition, choice of material/equipment, adherence to RINA and MCA rules, check of design and production drawing and calculations, advertising and show planning/organisation, creation of a worldwide sale organization, definition of sale contracts and legal  documents, contacts with clients and modification management;

  • Mag. 2007 – Ago. 2007 S/Y Masa Yume, in wood, 27 m (Italian Owner, builder Atabay Kimya - Turkey): technical assistance for stability calculations and  RINA Rules enforcement up to final certification;

  • Apr. 2005 – Ago. 2007 Conversion of an oceanographic vessel, in steel, 65 m in length, into the Charter yacht “Marina” (Italian Owner, builder Cindemir -Turkey): Stability calculations, RINA Rules enforcement up to final certification;

  • Mar. 2006 – May. 2007 Conversion from Pleasure yacht to Charter yacht of the Perini Navi S/Y “Principessa VaiVia”, in steel/aluminium, 40 m (under works at Lusben shipyard, Benetti group, Viareggio): shipyard technical direction for refitting works, RINA Rules enforcement up to final certification as charter yacht;

  • Nov. – Dec. 2006 M/Y “Mirgab” (under works at Lusben shipyard, Benetti group, Viareggio): technical assistance for inclining test under ABS and MCA rules;

  • Nov. 2005 – Nov. 2006 Azimut M/Y “Percal”, in FRP, 96’ (under works at Lusben shipyard, Benetti group, Viareggio):shipyard technical direction for refitting works;

  • Nov. 2004 – Ago. 2006 with Blue Fin Yachts (design company in Viareggio) new building of an expedition M/Y “Etra”, in steel, 45 m (Swiss Owner, builder Penglai Bohai - China): preliminary design, contractual assistance, RINA rules enforcement;

  • Jan. – Mar. 2006 Azimut M/Y “TV”, in FRP, 116’: technical survey and refitting work evaluation after serious damage, on behalf of Lusben shipyard, Benetti group, Viareggio;

  • Sep. 2005 – Mar. 2006 Baglietto M/Y “Blue Ice”, in aluminium, 41 m (under works at Lusben shipyard, Benetti group, Viareggio): shipyard technical direction for refitting works;

  • Apr. 2003 – Sep. 2004 European Projet “T.C.A. Eunetyard”, involving Shipyards in Italy (Fincantieri, Cantieri Orlando), Finland (Aker Finyards, Kvaerner Masa Yard, Turku repair) and in Greece (Neorion, Elefsys): technical expertise relevant to Outsourcing and good practices in the production;

  • Jul. 2001 – Jun. 2003 with S.P.E.C (design company in Viareggio, Italy): completion of a 8200 DWT ro-ro vessel (Owner BNavi - Italy, builder Nuovi Cantieri Apuania - Italy) left at 40% because of the initial shipyard bankruptcy: consultancy for the shipowner, project management, Class and Flag interface up to final certification "1547";

  • Dec. 2000 – Feb. 2003 with S.P.E.C (design company in Viareggio, Italy) new building of two 35000 DWT Chemical Tanker "Maritea" (Owner Ca.Li.Sa.- Italy, builder 3 May - Croatia): structural design, project management, final tests;

  • Gen. 2002 – Apr. 2002 Transport, load on self levelling barge and launch in a drydock of the M/Y “Genesis”, 47 m: operation concept and organization, practical assistance and operational management;

  • Feb. 2001 – Mar. 2002 with S.P.E.C (design company in Viareggio, Italy) new building of a 120’ self levelling barge for ro.ro cargo (Owner Gas & Heat - Italy, builder Cantieri Orlando - Italy): structural design, project management, final tests;

  • Dec. 2000 – Apr. 2001 with S.P.E.C (design company in Viareggio, Italy) Upgrade of the 8700 DWT Product tanker “Francesco A” for adhering to new rules about double hull (Owner Marittima Emiliana - Italy, Builder Viktor Lenac - Croatia): structural calculation, construction drawings and project management;

  • Nov. 2000 – Apr. 2001  with S.P.E.C (design company in Viareggio, Italy) new building of a 29900 DWT product/chemical tanker Bianca Amoretti (Owner Marittima Emiliana - Italy, Chinese shipyard): structural design and work check:

  • Feb. 1999 - Nov. 2000 head of Technical Office at Società Esercizio Cantieri SpA, (merchant vessel builder in Viareggio, Italy): completion of a Ro-Ro vessel 8200 DWT1546, redesign of a sister vessel for Ice Class 1A, redsesign of a sister vessel into a Ro-Pax;

  • Dec. 1992 – Jan. 1999 head of the structural design office at Società Esercizio Cantieri SpA S.E.C, (merchant vessel builder in Viareggio, Italy): complete structural design and construction drawings and cutting files of merchant vessels, including Ro-Ro, tankers, chemical tankers with stainless steel holds, fishing vessels;

  • Ago. 1989 – May 1990 Project Manager of a S/Y 46 m at Perini Navi SpA (sail yacht builder in Viareggio, Italy) Liberty.

  • Jun. 1988 – Jul. 1989 CAD designer at Cantieri Navali Picchiotti TM Blue One (motor yacht builder in Viareggio, Italy).

 

Technical Expertise for international Arbitrations and Bankruptcy Procedures

  • Mag.2007 - Sep. 2007 Bankruptcy procedure of Tecnocarp company, (Italy): professional engineering support for the liquidator (Studio Capanni, Lucca) in the bankruptcy procedure of the company Tecnocap (Viareggio, Italy) including technical evaluation and economic estimation for a steel/aluminium M/Y under building, 43 m in length;
  • Mag.2006 - Ago. 2007 Bankruptcy procedure of Navalia shipyard, (Italy): professional engineering support for the liquidator (Studio Landi, Lucca) in the bankruptcy procedure of the company Navalia (Stiava, Italy) including technical evaluation and economic estimation for 4 boats (lobster type), 60’ in length;
  • Feb. 2003 - Mar. 2004 Arbitration procedure between Co.Na.Ca.Le. and Cantieri di Pisa (Italy): Blue Lady; the litigation was related to defects claimed by the Owner on a Yacht built by Cantieri di Pisa, 26 m in length, it was held in the ICC in Pisa (Italy), under Italian Law. The work as technical expert appointed by board of arbitrators was to determinate the validity of the claimed defects (around 100 items) and to evaluate the economic impact;
  • Mar. 2003 - Nov. 2003 Arbitration procedure between Blue Sea Inc. and Off. Meccanica Navale Petrozzi & Rossi (Italy): Ivader; the litigation was related to defects claimed by the Owner on the refitting works performed on a Sail vessel originally built on 1905, 49 m in length, the procedure was held in Viareggio (Italy), under Italian Law. The work as technical expert appointed by board of arbitrators was to determinate if the  refitting works were performed properly;
  • Nov.2000 - Ago. 2003 Bankruptcy procedure of S.E.C. Group, (Italy): professional engineering support for the liquidator (Studio Del Prete, Lucca) in the bankruptcy procedure of the company group (SEC Shipyards in Viareggio, La Spezia, Livorno, and Tecnomarine in Viareggio) including estimation, technical support for sales, contracts and transports of ships (2 Ro-ro vessels 180 mt, 2 fishing vessels 50 m, one ro-ro partially built, one yacht in aluminium partially built, ine yacht in FRP partially built, several molds for FRP yachts construction) subject to auctions;
  • Jan. 1999 - Apr. 2001 International Arbitration between S.E.C. Shipyards, (Italy) and STENA Line (Sweden), Sea Centurion; the litigation was related to extra works claimed by the Builder on a 8200 DWT Ro-Ro vessel, 180 mt in length, it was held in the ICC in Paris, under Dutch Law. The amount under litigation was more than 20 Million Euro. The work as technical expert was supporting the S.E.C. attorney (Law firm Loyens & Loeff in Paris - France) by providing the technical description and relevant evaluation of the claims at stake and by participating in the hearings.
